It’s a F2P adventure RPG for smartphones and tablets where you survive and explore in a dusty, dangerous and gritty post-apocalyptic world. Your flying Sand-Cruiser will face rival ships controlled by the game or other players in thrilling air battles.
What is my main objective in the game?
To complete the different episodes of the single player campaign, where you’ll discover a deep story split into several types of missions. Their rewards will help you to increase your fleet with new types of Sand-Cruisers with different abilities, to upgrade and customize them with different strategical combinations of Ship Systems, which will be really helpful for both single player and player versus player battles that you'll face in the world of Sandstorm: Pirate Wars.
What are the missions?
Through the single player campaign several characters will assign you missions that will help you discover the secrets of the Sandstorm: Pirate Wars world, to progress through the story and to discover new territories. These tasks and objectives range from a small personal favour to a hard, dangerous adventure and often will provide you with a great reward!
Where can I find additional side missions? I'd like to earn some extra bolts!
Explore the world and find taverns, their crew use to be a good source of side missions. Some of them may be too risky, but make sure that the great reward for completing them will deserve it! These rewards will be key to improve your fleet.
An enemy ship is approaching! Can I jump into a hay cart to avoid the fight?
Uh… nope, that’s from another game! You can’t hide in hay carts in Sandstorm: Pirate Wars! However sometimes you can avoid some battles depending on the event. Some ships approaching will give you the possibility to bribe them for safe passage, or even avoid the fight by giving them an object or passenger you're transporting, so you'll have to decide what's the best option there.
Where can I repair my Sand-Cruiser? Its Ship Health Bar is almost empty!
Ships can only be repaired in the hangars available in some cities, so be careful with advancing a lot in the map without repairing or changing your ship, since it loses a bit of Ship Health with each battle.
How can I earn Bolts?
By completing missions in the single player campaign, defeating other players in player versus player battles or exchanging them for Power Cells.
Where can I earn Power Cells?
You can earn some of them in certain spots of the single player campaign, in community give aways that we’ll make from time to time, in community contests or in the shop available in the top right corner of the game screen.
How do I win a battle?
To attack a Sand-Cruiser reduces its Ship Health Bar. The first ship to lose all its Ship Health is defeated.
Where can I check the Ship Health of each Sand-Cruiser while fighting?
The Ship Health Bar of the enemy is located in the top right corner of the screen and yours in the bottom left corner, so check them often to follow the progress of the battle.
How do I control my game in combat?
Your Sand-Cruiser has both attack and defense related Ship Systems. To use them spends a certain amount of Ship Energy, which is automatically generated by the Sand-Cruiser. Manage strategically your Ship Energy to activate the Ship Systems in a smart way!
To use a Ship System or the Ship Booster you’ll need to click on their icon, and often after it to click on the System where you want to use them if needed.
Each type of Sand-Cruisers has its own Ship Booster, a special skill that may vary from to temporally improve one of the attributes of its Ship Systems to turn all your battle drones into kamikazes, so consider it when customizing strategically the Ship System configuration of your Sand-Cruisers! To use a Ship Booster you’ll need to wait until it’s loaded again, and it may take a while so make sure you use it with the proper timing!
Why can’t I select some Ship Systems?
They may be broken due to the attacks of the enemy (in this case repair it a soon as possible!) or because it requires more system energy than available (in this case you’ll need to wait a bit until the ship generates more).
What? The enemy defeated me even if my systems are repaired!
Be careful! While fighting you can repair the Ship Systems, but not the Ship Health. You only can repair the Ship Health of your Sand-Cruiser in the hangars you'll find in most cities.
What does Shield Piercing mean? Can I damage an enemy ship when they are using a shield?
Shields can protect Sand-Cruisers from most attacks, but weapons with Shield Piercing (the ones with an orange or red icon in their bottom left corner) can penetrate them and damage the ship. They are the most physical ones, like Mini-gun or Cannon.
What if the enemy is using Flares? Which kind of weapons can be blocked by them?
Flares can block weapons with green and red icons in there bottom left corner. These are typically charge weapons.
Why can't I release more Battle Drones? I'd like to deploy more Battle Drones at the same time!
Each Sand-Cruiser has a maximum number of Battle Drones that can be deployed at the same time. You can increase this number by leveling up your Sand-Cruiser in a hangar.
Why should I want to upgrade my Sand-Cruiser?
It makes your life easier, to upgrade your ship provides extra Ship Health, quicker Ship Booster loading time, higher maximum amount of simultaneous Battle Drones deployed and also increases the amount of available slots to install new Ship Systems in your ship.
How can upgrade my Sand-Cruiser?
Find a hangar in a nearby city, select the Sand-Cruiser you want to upgrade and you’ll see an upgrade button. It will require some bolts and some time, but you can accelerate it by using some Power Cells.
How can I customize my Sand-Cruiser?
As you progress you’ll earn a lot of different Ship Systems to install in your Sand-Cruiser, which allows you to deeply personalize your battle strategy. You can do it in Hangars.
According to recent rumours, somewhere in the future you also will be able to customize the appearance of the Sand-Cruisers with different types of paint and decals.
Why can’t I add some Ship Systems to certain Sand-Cruisers?
Both Sand-Cruisers and Ship Systems have a Tier. Ship Systems can only be installed on Sand-Cruisers with the same or higher Tier. In addition to that, consider that you should add Attack Systems to attack slots and Support Systems to support slots. And remember, you can always level up your Sand-Cruiser to unlock additional slots!
How can I get new Ship Systems for the ships?
When winning a battle, you’ll plunder the enemy and get some Ship Systems. Most of them will be available in nearby shops.
Can I upgrade the Ship Systems?
No, you can’t. You’ll need to replace them by better ones.
